A Masculine Birthday Card

My SIL’s 40th Birthday is just around the corner and thought I better get on the stick before I forget!

OMGoodness it was a struggle!  No bows, butterflies or flowers, WHEW!  I keep thinking it needs more.

I began by wanting to make a card with a frame in the center using the Lattice EF.  I masked the sun and used a blend of Not Quite Navy and Pool Party for the water and an image from the Inspired By Nature stamp set for the grass. I didn’t have a fishing pole but knew this fish had to be ‘hooked’ in some way.  I simply led the fishing line from it’s mouth casually up to a neat little pile anchored by a brad.  Of course we all know what the “40” is about…..lol!

I think Jamie will like it just the way it is.  He and Jarrett fish as often as they can so hopefully this will fit the bill……..even without the fishing pole.

A little closer ~

I just had to get a little bling of some kind in there.  Check out the fish, a little Glimmer Mist was just what this little fish needed to bring out his shine.

Now for the best part ~ show me the money…..*smile*

I made two slits next to the inside message that will hold his gift.  I don’t have to worry about this money falling out unseen. lol  I can hear him now “I hope I get more than $5…”.             BTW – this is a great card for the mail!  Now that’s a good thing, as for Jamie….he’ll have to wait and see.  *smiles*

Have a good one everybody, I’m so glad you took the time to stop by!

See you tomorrow…

Very cute! You did a great job on your man card, he will love it. Where did you get the fish?

LOVE this one Linda. I am really in need of masculine looking card ideas for me, and also for my customers! For me, it seems the kids are only having boys and my grandsons are far outnumbering the granddaughters (rats). And my customers' card ministries ... well lets just start with the VA Hospital ministry! Wow! Bless you m'dear!

Fabulous "man" card Linda. You always come up with the best ideas. The fishing line and the glimmer on the fish are pure genius.

Great man card is right! I have such trouble with these. My brother is an avid outdoorsman so I'll tuck this away for him!

Beautiful masculine card Linda! Sometimes I too find ideas for a man's card, hard to come up with. When you started the blog with SIL, I thought you were talking Sister - in - law, and wondered why you were making such a masculine card, not that's it's any of our business. Anyway, very nice ornate but simple.

What an awesome "man" card! My son is an avid fisherman and I'm always looking for inspiring masculine cards and this one is perfect! Love the embossed background and how you make it look like the fish is in the water, so clever! I will be keeping this in mind for my son's next birthday card!
