A Valentine for Lucea

This is my last valentine. With this card, I think my list will be complete.  I had the little girl who lives across the street in mind when I made it …… her name is Lucea.  Lucea is a precious little girl who loves frilly things and especially her little white teddy bear. Some of her favorites are fancy shoes, dress up clothes, nail polish and can really turn your head when she puts on her sunglasses with all those hats!   But it’s that little white teddy that holds the special place in her heart. I hope I did her teddy justice!

And the inside, I left the white heart blank for a hand written note…

A Scrunched Flower…

Good morning everyone.  Did you get all those errands, shopping and household duties done yesterday so you can sit back relax and enjoy your families and do some blog surfing today. *smile*  I sure did.

I tried my luck at one of those scrunched up flowers the other day.
Here’s the result:

  and the inside…

I can’t remember who’s blog I saw the tutorial on for the flower; but, it’s really easy, just crunch it up and pull apart. I just remembered how she did it and thought I needed to give it a try.  If anyone out there knows, email me…I would love to give her the credit.  I really liked how this card turned out.  I hope you do to.

TIP:  You need to scrunch the paper up really well, the more the better.  Look for the paper to begin to separate, you’ll be able to see it.  Then pull it apart.

Supplies needed:

  • Cardstock – E. Espresso, Pretty in Pink, W. White, A. Artichoke
  • Stamps – Teeny Tiny Wishes
  • Ink – White, Clear EB
  • Punches – Modern Label, Scalloped Trim and Eyelet border punches, Scalloped Circle, Little leaves, McGills Pine and small flower punches and Two Step Bird punch
  • Misc – Victoria Lace, gold half pearls and satin ribbon (from my stash) Cuttlebug folder

Enjoy your day, thanks a bunch for stopping by and as always email me for questions.

A Short Story About……heart

My post today is not about a card that I made, nor about valentines, color combinations, techniques etc.  But about heart!

Our eldest son, Jeff,  is in Iraq and has been there since last September. Our Daughter-in-law spent Thanksgiving with us and one thing she wanted to do while visiting was to make Jeff a card.  Card making was “totally” new to her, it reminded me of turning me loose in Gordon Ramsey’s (gourmet chef) kitchen to make a soufflĂ©’ *smile* Mary did not have the first thing in mind of a theme except “Jeff” nor any idea where to start, she only had the “heart”.  I did not want to get real involved with this card, I wanted it to solely be HERS.  And that it was.  I think she did a grand job.  A little bird told me how very much Jeff appreciated it and that it stays in a spot where he sees it every day!  Here is Mary’s card:

Happy stamping everyone, always remember “it’s not always about having the best materials, tools, criteria’s and this and thats.  Just a little heart will do!

Here I Go Again Another First - EVER

A LITTLE BIRD FOR YOU TODAY

I have entered this card in a challenge – can you believe it!  I think I have completely lost it.  But at the same time I have to admit I’m excited as well.  The challenge is over at PPA – CAS Bows Challenge 78.  Wish me luck!  I’ll keep you posted on how it all turns out, either way I am so happy to get all the experience this week.  I am waiting for my brain to go into major overload and just totally shut down, I can’t imagine what shape Carla’s www.carlas-scraps.com  must be in.  *smile*

003

This stamp is also a “must have”.  Each stamp has a corresponding punch.  NO CUTTING OUT you’ll have a sharp clean cut every time!  I thru in a few leaves from the two step bird punch and used the Swiss Dots folder on the large heart.

You know those little Stampin Up – stampin spots?  They are the niftiest little things!  I just love them.  I used one here on my cuttlebug folder (Polka Dots) - swiped the spot pad over the inside of the folder and was done -did not have a brayer to cleanup afterwards.

TIP:  I have found one of the easiest cleanup tools -
baby wipes.  In my stamp area I do not have access to running water easily…….use a baby wipe and throw it away.

Supplies needed:

  • Cardstock - M. Moss, A. Artichoke, Pretty in Pink and W. White
  • Stamps - Punch Potpourri
  • Ink -  Pretty in Pink and M. Moss
  • Punches – Scalloped Border Edge and Corner punches, Scalloped Heart to Heart die, Two Step Bird, Boho Blossoms and Full Heart punches.
  • Misc -  Marvy Heart Punch, Cuttlebug – Polka Dots and Swiss Dots folders, versa ink pad, clear ep, Pretty in Pink ribbon and silver half pearls from my stash.

Hope you enjoyed my card, until tomorrow be safe and as always thanks for stopping by and email me with any questions.

Because I Care

This has to be one of my favorite stamp sets.  I think it’s one of those to call “classic”.  I love flowers and this set I know I’ll be using a lot in the future.

This card is pretty self explanatory I did sponge the outside edge of the very vanilla cs, sparingly, with soft suede ink after I stamped the background and the hydrangea.  It seemed to make the flower glow.

TIP:  Add gold half pearls to each little flower or stamp and cut out three of the single flowers (comes with the stamp set) and pop them up with dimensionals either one would be a nice touch.

That’s it for this evening. As always thanks for stopping by – I love company – Questions?….email me.

A Birthday Card

016

I’m finding how difficult it is to capture all the detail and to bring in colors just as I see them on the card itself when taking pictures.  The word Friend in the sentiment actually is very pretty and in person stands out clearly, but the picture does not reflect that in its entirety. Looking at it now, I think maybe I should have lowered that butterfly…….hummmm.

In some cases I like to stamp over another stamp.  I first stamped the sentiment onto a versa mark ink pad (so it would hold the ep, SU ink tends to dry fast) and then stamped it in bashful blue then clear embossed it.  With a stamp-a-ma-jig stamped the flower (using soft suede) over part of the sentiment and repeated the same process again, added a flourish and yep did the same thing on that one also.  At some point I would love to have all that “Stampin Up” has to offer but until then I have to make do.  With that said, I did not have the markers for the flowers in the colors that I wanted, so I got out my blender pen and applied just a tad of ink onto the pen and colored in the flowers.  I thought it turn out pretty well.  As for my blender pen……its just fine!

I added half pearls here and there on the flowers and to the body of the butterfly.  To add a little dimension, I layered the butterfly x3, perfect plum, white and bashful blue.

006

and the inside….just need to add some half pearls.

007

Supplies needed:

  • Cardstock – B. Blue, P. Plum, W. White
  • Stamps – Bloomin’ Beautiful, All Holidays
  • Ink – B. Blue, P. Plum, Pretty in Pink, Cameo Coral, S. Suede
  • Versa Mark pad, blender pen, half pearls and clear embossing powder

As always, any questions – I’m just an email away!

REMEMBER…..Sale-a-bration starts today.  I’m working on my list, how about you?

All the best to everyone and many many thanks again!!

Heartfelt Thanks and a Valentine

This is my very first post – EVER – I have only been part of the ‘stamping world’ for about a year.  Thus far, it has been an incredible journey.  The people you meet are just the most rewarding and talented group of artists that you will ever come across.  One of these talented artists is Carla Bazhenow of Carla’s Scraps http://www.carlas-scraps.com/ if it wasn’t for her none of this would be possible.  She goes over and beyond anything asked of her.  She’s like - Nationwide….always on your side!! *smile*   Be sure to check her blog out!!!  You’ll be glad you did, her work is absolutely beautiful.                  THANK YOU CARLA!
