Kindness Matters

I’ve always liked this stamp set, but would refrain from using it for one reason or another.  Last week I stepped up to the challenge and decided to use it.

I’m thinking the thing that bother me the most was the fact that the small butterflies were in a straight line and as one stamp….not sure about you, but I have never seen butterflies fly all lined up.  I decided to do something I have never done before…..cut and rearrange the stamp.

The three butterflies on the bottom is how they are displayed as a stamp.  The acrylic block shows how I wanted them to be after minor surgery.  lol  I then stamped these butterflies randomly throughout the front of my card.  They seem to be more ‘in flight’.

A huge thank you to LeAnne at WEEinklings for giving me the inspiration for running my twine vertically through the Dotted Scalloped Ribbon Punch.  The butterfly was made from the Bird Builder and Blossom Petal Builder punches.  A heart was punched from the Owl Builder punch and placed at the center of the bow knot.  Last but not least, I randomly stamped a dotted background stamp (retired from SU!) to give it a more vintage look.

Thanks so much for stopping in today, I so enjoy the company!  I went from a little vintage today to a little modern for tomorrow, here’s a peak.

See you then!

You were born with an artist's eye for sure! Great idea splitting up the stamps! And I love the stitching through the border punch - this is wonderful - love it!

WHAT!!! You cut up a stamp! AND rearranged it! What were you thinking?! I'm going to have to remember that - that really works with this stamp. You fixed it!

Well, I occasionally cut up my stamps but I actually NEVER thought to do it on this one....duh! What a smart little chickie you are! And they do look so realistic fluttering on your card!

I love this card. The twine through the ribbon border punch looks fantastic, I would have never thought to try that. I've always liked this stamp, but like you, I didn't like them in a straight line because it makes me think of biology class and the poor butterflies pinned on a display board, so I've always colored them separately to stamp. Cutting them apart will make it so much easier! I always enjoy your cards and this is another one that I will CASE. Sending you wishes of Peace, Love & Joy.

Beautiful card, Linda. The butterflies are much too pretty to not be flying solo!! The ribbon punch also looks nice with the white/color twin and crossed (like tying a tennis shoe). Just adds a little something :o) Looking forward to tomorrow's show stopper!!

This is such a pretty card. I love the colors and you did a wonderful job creating the butterfly.
Btw, I cut my stamps apart all the time.

Very brave, but it does look tons better. Think I'll be chopping on mine, too. Saw Jennifer Maguire cut up a chevron stamp and that was my first time. It worked out great and if you don't cut off any little corners or try to even things up, you can even put it back together to stamp like it was meant to do. No harm, no foul. It all made a very pretty card. Love the twine in the scalloped ribbon.

Playing catchup and I'm glad I stopped by to see your butterflies...they are so pretty! Cool look with your threaded twine!

I have been known to cut some stamps apart but did not think about this one. I like it!
